1. Do I need my own insurance?
All travellers are advised to make sure that have their travelling insurance ready before they fly out of their country of origin.
2. Do I need a Visa?
Visa is compulsory; we strongly recommend that all travellers apply for visas before travelling out of their country of origin.
3. Malaria Tablet
We often travel in wetlands like Okavango Delta, St Lucia and Mozambique where we have aggressive mosquitoes, travellers are advised to consult with their travel clinics prior to travel.
4. Mosquito Nets
The accommodation establishments we use are providing mosquito nets, so no need to bring your own, but you can bring your own bug spray.
5. Food to Expect
Our tours are different and offer different meals, but travellers can expect more African cuisine where meals are provided by us (camping tours). Bobotie, Braai and other African dishes are some of the dishes to be expected while lodges and hotels offer a variety of dishes.
6. Drinking water
South Africa has safe drinking water right from the tap, but for your own safe, buy drinking water from shops. The guides will keep you informed about all shopping stops.
7. Credits Cards
Most of the lodges and hotels as well as shopping centres do accept credits cards, but we recommend cash where possible.
8. Luggage Allowance
Southern Tours and Safaris allow travellers to bring one luggage, 15 kg and one day-pack.
9. Sleeping Bag
Only camping tours/safaris need a sleeping bag, for luxury or accommodated safaris, no sleeping bag needed, hotels do provide linen.
Our client’s safety is our main concern. Our tours take us deep into bushes and big cities where incidents are possible, but we stay informed about all our routes. Travellers are safe while travelling with us.
Southern African weather is normally warm throughout the year, but travellers are advised to bring warm clothes, shorts, and camouflaging clothing for walks and game drives.
